With amazing shots of the natural world and wild animals, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition comes round again for 2008, with a stunning exhibition of the contestants work at the Natural History Museum.

One of the most prestigious and innovative photography competitions of its kind, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008 showcases the very best in photographic images of the natural world. With amazing images of wildlife, including animals, birds, plants, trees, insects and the natural landscape, this exhibition is a stunning collection of the work produced by the world's best photographers.

Over 134,000 people visited the Wildlife Photographer exhibition last year, and even more are expected for 2008/2009. Having grown in popularity over the past 40 odd years, this yearly collection of beautiful photographs has now grown to have contributions from 82 different countries. And the 08/09 show has broken all previous records with 32,351 images being entered for consideration in the competition.

Giving visitors an insight into the beauty, drama and variety of the natural world, the photos on show highlight the skills of the most talented photographers whilst reminding the viewer of the amazing wonder of the animals and wildlife that surrounds us. From the humble beetle to the vastness of the Grand Canyon, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition displays the achievements of the photographer in capturing a precise moment in all its glory.

The winning images are on display at the Natural History Museum until the end of April and are then toured around the UK and the rest of the world, allowing the photos to be seen in their native homes. With an exciting interactive installation, both kids and families can find out what the judges thought of the photos and hear from scientists and the photographers themselves about the subject matter of the photographs. Visitors to the Natural History Museum will also have the chance to vote for their own personal favourite image from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and choose from a selection of prints to take home.

Full of some of the most amazing photos you will ever see, the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition at the Natural History Museum is a fantastic exhibition that will be enjoyed by fans of photography as well as those fascinated by the natural world.
