Back for another year the Santa Skate London event is sure to be a great day out for all skaters that love to dress up as the jolly red fat man and skate around London. Not just an event for the skaters mind, many Londoners will surely appreciate the site of Santa whizzing about town on two wheels as a novelty compared to his usual reindeer drawn mode of transport.

Santa Skate 2008
Beginning with the distribution of the Santa Skate costumes themselves from the Victoria Pub at Strathern Place, the skating Santa crew will then head over to Hyde Park where they limber up before their unique journey across London. A site for many sore eyes in December when many of us are suffering from a Santa-esque overload with grottos as far as the eye can see, the Santa Skate London event will most certainly bring a smile to your lips.

Santas set off
Setting off at 5pm from the Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner, the Santas will skate around the streets of central London for two hours covering an enthusiastic distance of 10 miles. If the real Santa were to take part in this annual skating exercise, then he may well lose the jolly fat belly for which he has become so renowned.

Skating for Christmas
For anyone who has never seen the Santa Skate London event before, you could be forgiven for thinking that the city has just been invaded by identical old men in red pyjamas, skating about town to music. But never fear - the Santas are not running riot willy nilly. They are marshalled by experienced Santa Skate veterans, dressed as reindeers, and the London Friday Night Skate Sound Sleigh who will lead the crew around some of London's most famous landmarks in a victorious Christmas skating session.

Taking over the square
Trafalgar Square is the stop off point for a quick break at 6pm, where the Santas will be invited to scoff some mince pies and generally catch their breath before heading back out onto the road for another hour. Ending up at the Victoria Pub once more, the Santa Skate crew will celebrate their successful skating evening with a Christmas party.

The Santa Skate suit collection takes place at 2pm - 4pm at The Victoria Public House, Strathearn Place, W2. Assembley is at 4.45pm and departure is at 5pm, both at the Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner, returning at 7pm approximately.
